About Us
We're building the consultancy we'd want to hire
We're a proudly Kiwi-owned operational consulting business helping organisations build businesses that are simpler, stronger and easier to run.
That means improving systems, removing friction, helping teams do their best work and building practical systems that work.
We don't believe in consulting for consulting's sake.
If we've done our job well, you'll eventually need us less, not more. We'll always be honest about where we can add value and when we think your team is ready to take things forward without us.

We believe business should benefit everyone
A successful business should create value for everyone involved - not just shareholders.
That's why we're committed to reinvesting in our people, improving our services and building a business that customers enjoy working with and employees are proud to be part of.
We believe long-term success comes from looking after people, delivering exceptional work and continually improving the way we operate.
For our customers
When you work with us, you can expect:
- Honest advice, even if it means less work for us.
- Practical solutions rather than endless workshops.
- Efficient delivery that respects your team's time.
- Transparent pricing and genuine value.
- A partnership focused on building capability, not dependency.
For our team
We're building the kind of workplace we'd choose ourselves.
That means investing in wellbeing, supporting flexible ways of working, sharing success as the business grows and creating opportunities for people to build rewarding, sustainable careers.
We believe great businesses are built by great people - and looking after those people isn't a cost. It's one of the best investments a business can make.
For our communities
Every organisation deserves the opportunity to build a stronger, more sustainable future. Unfortunately, many community groups, charities and schools don't have the resources to access the kind of operational support that businesses take for granted.
That's why we commit 5% of our consulting capacity each year to providing our services free of charge to community organisations, not-for-profits and education providers.
Know an organisation that could benefit? We'd love to hear from you.
Why Mangrove?
Most consulting firms sell expertise. We focus on capability.
That means fixing the systems, processes and operating rhythm behind your business—not creating dependency on us.
When the work is done, your business should continue improving long after we've left.

The promises we make
Reinvesting in our future
Every dollar we earn helps build a better business - for our customers and our team. We reinvest our profits into our people, improving our services and creating long-term value.
Giving back
Building better business ecosystems extends beyond our customers. We dedicate 5% of our consulting capacity to supporting charities, schools and community organisations, helping them achieve more with less friction.
Healthy relationships
Success isn't having customers who need us forever. Success is helping our customers become self-sufficient. We'll always be honest about where we add value - and when we think you no longer need us.
Outcomes over meetings
Your investment should go into solving problems, not sitting in meetings. We keep administration lean so more of our time is spent delivering meaningful outcomes.
Continuous improvement
We believe every project is an opportunity to learn. We continually ask ourselves one question: How could we have made this even better? Then we apply those lessons to the next customer.
Work that fits around life
We're building the kind of company we'd want to work for - a place where people can build rewarding careers while still having time for family, friends and the things that matter most. Because we believe great work and a great life should go hand in hand.

Why I started Mangrove
After more than a decade working across government and private organisations, I kept seeing the same problems.
- Talented people spending more time working around broken systems than doing the work they were hired to do.
- Businesses adapting to software instead of technology supporting the way their business actually operates.
- Teams with good intentions pulling in different directions because nobody had stepped back to design how the business should work as a whole.
Mangrove exists to change that.
I believe businesses should become easier to run as they grow - not more complicated. The people you bring in to help should spend more time solving problems than sitting in meetings, and every improvement should continue creating value long after the project has finished.
That's why I built Mangrove around practical advice, measurable outcomes and building capability within our customers, rather than creating dependency on us.
I also wanted to build the kind of company I'd choose to work for. A place where people can build rewarding careers without sacrificing the things that matter most, where flexibility is genuinely supported, and where success is measured by the value we create - not simply the hours we bill.
Because better businesses are built by people who enjoy being part of them.
The philosophy behind Mangrove wasn't developed overnight. It was shaped through years of leading operational and financial transformation inside a growing New Zealand business.
